Hong Kong’s low-fare airline HK Express is thrilled to announce a new route to Hualien, a gorgeous seaside destination on the eastern coast of Taiwan, just over an hour’s flight from Hong Kong.
Scheduled to commence on 6 December 2016, the new route will operate from Hong Kong twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with the return flights operating on Tuesdays and Sundays. The flexible times and affordable fares make it easy to book a weekend getaway or a longer escape to fresh air, green surrounds and miles of coastline.

“We have been wanting to connect Hong Kong and Hualien for a long time and are excited to launch this amazing new route,” said Andrew Cowen, Director and CEO of HK Express. “Just over an hour from Hong Kong, the coastal city has so much to offer in terms of outdoor adventure, cuisine and culture — we have no doubt the flight sale will see insatiable demand.”
Previously extremely difficult to get to, this new nonstop flight will allow travellers to experience Hualian’s picturesque natural scenery like Taroko Gorge and Meilunshan Park. Of course, since it’s Taiwan, you can expect amazing food, a low-key vibe and some fantastic biking paths.
For Guests hoping to see more of the country, not to worry: Hualien is well-connected by train so it’s a breeze to explore other cities such as Kaohsiung, Taitung, Tainan and Taipei.
